It’s dusk and there’s a chill in the air. The smell of popcorn, hot dogs and hot chocolate wafts through the air. As the lights come on, highlighting the field, there’s an electric buzz through the stands. The scoreboard glows on one end of the field. Suddenly, a voice comes over the loud speaker. The voice welcomes people to the game, and reminds everyone to have sportsman like behavior. It’s time for Friday Night Lights and Tiger football! [more]

Van Mooy Helps Track Down Gulf Oil Plume

Scientists at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), including one with a North Baltimore connection, have detected a plume of hydrocarbons (oil) that is at least 22 miles long and more than 3,000 feet below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, a residue of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  [more]
