The "early site work package" bids have come in, with ten companies requesting information and six submitting formal bids. At this time the apparent low bidder is ACI Construction Company (Alvada).
The bid was $789,600, which was almost 25% below the estimated construction document cost of slightly over one million dollars. "We will begin meetings with ACI this week and plan to have construction equipment on-site by the middle of August," said NB Superintendent, Marlene North, "We are hopeful that construction costs will continue to come in very favorably as we bid the major part of our building construction."
According to Supt. North, these are the items included in the "early site package":
Earthwork: Erosion control (silt fence), cut/fill for balanced sit for school and parking, cut entire site to grade, stone in mechanical yard, grade areas to be paved (roads)
Utilities: Water lines, hydrants, storm drains/lines, sanitary lines
Pavement and Curbs: install some of the pavement and all of the curbs (some pavement has been separated out for another bid package), sidewalks, striping on parking lots
Site Specialties: Traffic signage, school sign, bike racks, flag pole
Dumpster/Mechanical Yard Screen Walls: install 8' wall (screen) with concrete foundation, gates, etc. for these areas
Landscaping: Some plants, mulch, seeding of lawn and sports fields
