At the most recent Henry Township Trustees meeting, the trustees got information from Steve Schellenberg with IMS Worldwide Inc. and Dan Murphy with CSX. The purpose of the informational session was for discussion of CSX hiring retaining IMS to assist in the development "outside the gates," of the CSX project in Henry Township, a couple of miles west of NB.

Schellenberg is the Vice President of Business Development for IMS, whose business card says that IMS is a "Foreign-Trade Zone and Industrial Park Consulting and Marketing Supply Chain and Security-Threat Assessments," type of firm. Their role will be to assist CSX in developing business around the intermodal yard, which should open for operation in 2011.

The trustees discussed the overpass project with Murphy, he said that project has suffered from "scope creep." He added that the project, was improperly projected to cost $5 million back in 2006, by governmental entities, who used inadequate information. Murphy has told the trustees that the project is now anticipated to cost $8 million. He said, "we (CSX) are going to figure out what is best for everyone involved, we have to make this work!" CSX has committed the original $5 million for the project, but they are not likely to be able to add the additional funds to the $185 million cost already projected for the intermodal yard.

The trustees have begun working with Rex Huffman, who is with the Northern Wood County Port Authority and the new Chairman of the Wood County Economic Development Commission. At a previous meeting with the group, Huffman had said that with the high unemployment rate in the area, a grant for the remaining $3 million might be possible.

In other Henry Township news, Zoning Inspector, Stanley "Skip" Baltz continues to research and review the Junk Vehicle Ordinance; a time-line for the completion of the Deweyville Road project is being finalized; discussed the Hough Road to Quarry Road upgrade and has heard that the project may not be possible as originally thought - options are being developed; want to examine the Needles Road berm, as there is concern it is too narrow; discussed the Cherry Street Project that the Village Of NB was supposed to have assisted and discussed several equipment related issues.
