The Lady Tiger of North Baltimore High School traveled to Fremont, for an MAL basketball game with the St. Joe Lady Streaks.
NB jumped out to a 12 - 6 lead after one quarter, extending that lead to 27 - 17 at the half. The Tigers would take a 33 - 21 lead into the final quarter, only to see St. Joe mount a comeback, with the Lady's hanging on for a narrow 3 point win, 46 - 43.
Coach Frost had the following comments about the game:
"We were in control of the game from the get go, quickly establishing a double digit lead and maintaining it throughout the game. We had held SJCC to 21 points through 3 quarters, and then the floodgates opened again on us in the 4th as everything they threw up went in! They made 5 three-pointers, (4 of them heavily contested) by 4 different girls, and doubled their game output with 22 points in the final frame.
Credit to our girls for withstanding the onslaught and momentum, especially with senior standout Ricci Emahiser missing in action due to illness. We had 4 different girls combine for an 8 of 10 answer from the free throw line late in the game to come home with a much needed league victory."
The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Olivia Frost with 19 points. Megan Wright added 9, Kelsey Gazarek with 6, Morgan Schloemp 5, Reagan Fleckner 3 and Courtney Bretz and Lacey Trumbull chipping in two points each.
Wright pulled down 7 rebounds, Gazarek 6; Fleckner and Schloemp had 2 steals each; Fleckner had 5 assists.
NB moves to 6 - 5 overall. St. Joe fell to 5 - 6.
There was no Junior Varsity game.
