Mabel Julia Spitler, 94, of Morehead City and formerly of Ohio, died Thursday January 17, 2013, at Crystal Bluffs Rehab Center, Morehead City, NC.

Born on the farm on the prairie between Custar and Deshler, Mabel was born to the late Sebastian Scott and Emma Etta (Thatcher) Ziessler. She married Richard Eugene Spitler on September 24, 1942, and he preceded her
in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Lloyd and husband Andrew of Morehead City, NC: her son, James Spitler and Beth of Rome, NY: sister, Ruth Daum of Napoleon, OH: brother, Donald Ziessler of Findlay, OH: granddaughter, Clarissa Lloyd Pratt and husband Barry of Cary, NC: grandson, Andrew Lloyd and wife Carrie of Raleigh, NC: and great-grandson, Andrew Lloyd of Raleigh, NC. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Winfield Ziessler and Leonard Ziessler.

Mabel was a homemaker. She was a 60 years member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, North Baltimore and a 60 year member of the Literary and Lyric Circle.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist, North Baltimore. Reverend Susan Kronbach will officiate and burial will follow in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
