| SCAM ALERT from NB PD - "Pay Now" phone calls Posting Date: 01/23/2013 |
CITIZEN'S WARNING from North Baltimore Police Chief, Allan Baer: Senior Citizens in NB are receiving bogus calls from "the district attorney's office".
From Chief Baer:
A new Telephone Scam is circulating the area -
Several NB residents have received phone calls from a subject purporting to work for "the District Attorney's Office of Wood County."
The subject will tell you that you have a felony warrant for your arrest - for "Bad Checks". The subject informs the citizen that he can revoke the warrant, if you pay what is owed immediately.
The subject requests your bank account information to make a payment by phone.
First: The State of Ohio does not refer to the Prosecutor's Office as "District Attorney's"
Second: It is NOT the practice of Wood County Law Enforcement to have citizens make payments over the phone to revoke warrants.
If any Citizen has any suspicious calls or questions please call the police department
