Kenneth L. Sterling, 90, of Marion and formerly of Cygnet, died at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Partners of Marion Care and Rehabilitation Center, in Marion.
He was born on December 26, 1922, in Cygnet, to the late Wilbert "Bert" Clarissa (Winterhalter) Sterling.
He married Mildred M. West on October 11, 1944, and she preceded him in death on September 28, 1994. He later married Patricia Dibling and she preceded him in death.
Ken is survived by by his son, Kevin (Nadine) Sterling of Marion; his
daughter, Kathryn (Paul) Houdashelt of Stone Creek, OH; his step-daughters: Angela (Robert) West of Toledo and Teresa (Richard) Smith of FL; his grandchildren: Kyle (Jamie) Sterling, Amanda (Benjamin) Zucker, Brian (Amy) Houdashelt and Bradley (Abby) Houdashelt; and his six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Bowers and his half-brother, Walter Sterling.
Ken was a retired farmer and had worked for the Ohio Agriculture Research Center. He was a member of the Portage Chapel United Methodist Church, Wood County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, and caring for his apple trees.
A private family graveside service will be held in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore, with Reverend Howard Mayne officiating. A funeral service will be held at a later date at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.
