W.W. Knight Nature Preserve

Still no garage, but we would like to help you Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! Reduce the clutter in your house by donating. Drop-off for items will be Thursday, March 7, 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Reuse and Recycle by shopping at the sale. For more information contact the Nature Center at 419-661-1697. Please no TVs, computers, or large furniture.

PiPs (Pre-schoolers in the Parks) - Turkey Vultures

For children 3-6 years of age. Participants will enjoy a short story and a craft about turkey vultures. Adult companions must remain with children for this program.

Frog and Toad Monitor Training

Saturday, March 2, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Park District Headquarters

Would you like to learn how to identify our local frogs and toads by sound? Are you interested in developing a greater connection to our parks while contributing to our knowledge about frogs and toads at the Wood County Parks? Then volunteer for the Frog and Toad Calling Survey. Volunteers will be trained on how to conduct surveys and identify frog species by sight and sound.

Woody Plant Removal

Saturday, March 9, 10:00 a.m. - Noon

Beaver Creek Preserve

Help us improve wildlife habitat by helping us remove unwanted woody plants. Dress to work outdoors and bring gloves if you have them. No experience necessary.

Pie Day - Greenhouse Help
Thursday, March 14, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Reuthinger Preserve

Come help us grow plants at the Native Nursery and Greenhouse. Volunteers may be asked to perform a variety of functions such as transplanting seedlings, filling pots, or watering plants. No experience necessary. In celebration of "Pie Day," volunteers will be treated to dessert following the work session.

Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Training

Do you have a strong interest in your natural surroundings, a desire to sharpen your outdoor interpretation skills, and a willingness to share your knowledge with others? If so, consider becoming an Ohio State University Extension Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist.

Beginning in early April, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist training will be offered for residents of Wood County and surrounding areas. The Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist program (OCVN) is a volunteer program which provides an extensive course in the natural sciences in exchange for a donation of volunteer hours to share your skills and knowledge with others through OCVN sponsored activities. The Wood County Park District OCVN program is a cooperative venture between Ohio State University Extension and the Wood County Park District
