Jean H. Ramsey, 83, of Bloomdale, OH passed away at 2:56 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

She was born on April 5, 1929, to the late H. Forney and Helen Mae (Morris) Hamilton in Findlay. She married John W. Ramsey on December 28, 1952, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2000.

Jean is survived by her daughter Jane Kay Deckard of Columbus, OH; sons: Jerry K. Ramsey of Bloomdale, OH, Jack K. Ramsey of Findlay, and Jeffrey K. (April) Ramsey of North Baltimore; twin sister, Joanne (Joseph) Rockwell of Newville, PA; 4 grandchildren: Benjamin, Christopher, Tearra, and Rylee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was a 1947 graduate of Findlay High School and a 1951 graduate of Findlay College. Jean began her career at Glenwood Middle School and then went on to teach 8th grade math at Elmwood, retiring after 30 years of service. Jean was a member of the Bloomdale Trinity United Methodist Church, where she participated in the choir, on numerous committees, and the "Ladies of the Club". Jean received the distinction of the Martha Holden Jennings Scholar Lecturer. She was on the board of the Wayne Public Library and on the Bloomdale Village Council. She was an avid reader and a lay member to the West Ohio Conferences Annual Conference at Lakeside.

Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the funeral home. Pastor Jeff Ridenour will officiate and burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Twp., Wood County. Memorials may be made to the Bloomdale United Methodist Church and/or the Wayne Public Library.
