NB Board Hires Football Coach

The regular meeting of the North Baltimore Local Board of Education was held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013pm in the new MS/HS Complex, room 205.

There were several highlights at the beginning of the meeting.

First, was the recognition by Superintendent, Marlene North of the Honor Band & Choir Students. Allison Beaupry was honored for her work as choir member. Andrew Shelton, Cody Switzer, and Brittany Daughenbaugh were honored for their work as band members. Also receiving honors were band director, Ben Pack, and Choir director, Emily Meyerson.

Secondly, the Board voted unanimously to hire Mr. Greg Bishop as the new Varsity Head Football Coach. Mr. Bishop is presently teaching in Virginia at Brooke Point High School in Stafford, Virginia. He is Assistant Varsity Head Coach and head JV Coach. He has also coached at Bowling Green High School as Assistant Linebackers and Safeties Coach. Mr. Bishop has BS Degree from BGSU in Technology Ed.

After a brief report from Treasurer, Eve Baldwin and administrative reports that can be read elsewhere in this publication, the Board moved to executive session to discuss some confidential matters at 5:37pm and adjourned the executive session at 5:58pm and moved the regular agenda items.

Superintendent’s recommendations:

Accepted the resignation for retirement for Janet Kominek

elementary teacher at the end of the 2012-13 school year.

Accepted the resignation for retirement for Kim Conkle, elementary teacher at the end of the 2012-13 school year.

Approved a maternity leave of absence to Sarah Bugner, MS Language Arts Teacher, beginning approximately April 13th through the end of the school year using accumulated sick leave and the Family Medical Leave Program.

Approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2012-13 school year:

Approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2013-14 school year:

Rachel Ousley (pronounced Usley) Varsity Volleyball Head Coach

Jeff Miklovic Varsity Golf Coach

Bradlee Rowlinson Varsity Cross Country Coach

Approved the 2013-14 school calendar. Available at the Administrative or the MS/HS office.

Approved an agreement with Owens State Community College for Academic Dual Enrollment Collaboration to begin in the 2013-14 school year. The courses will be offered online.

Approved an agreement with Northwest Ohio Education Service Center to provide services for students with vision impairment for the 2013-14 school year on an as needed basis for an estimated cost as follows:

$326 for consultation services per year as needed.

$4,687 for low vision services per year as needed.

$14,062 for braille services per year as needed.

Approved an agreement with North Central Ohio Educational Service Center for audiological services for the 2013-14 as needed.

Approved a retro-active agreement with Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West for a Student Learning Objective (SLO) Collaborative Development Project for a cost of up to $750 dated January 1, 2013.

Approved participation in the Wood County Educational Service Center Specialized Educational Programs for fiscal year 2013-14.

Approved engineering services for the MS/HS building with ESA Engineers, Surveyors & Associates LLC, at a co=funded cost of $4,650 from the OSFC Project account 010-9210.

Addendum Items:

Approved a supplemental contract for Greg Bishop as Varsity Head Football Coach for the 2013-14 school year.

Approved a resolution rejecting the high public auction bid for the purchase of the property where the former North Baltimore MS/HS building was located. The high bid was tendered by Charles Kelley. The bid was $68,000.

The Board adjourned to executive session at 6:49pm to discuss some additional confidential matters. No action taken.
