March 27, 2013: Understanding the Grid
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Tribal Energy Program, and the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) will present the next Tribal Renewable Energy Series webinar titled "Understanding the Grid" on Wednesday, March 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
The webinar will provide an overview of electric power grid operations and maintenance programs. In addition to discussing generating entities and the types of loads they serve, presenter Jim Charters, a utility transmission system consultant and former WAPA employee, will cover the intricacies of the electric grid—including interconnections, power flows, line capacities, storage, and reserves—and explain how and why it works.
There is no charge for the webinar, but registration is required.
