She arrived at the Port of Toledo June 15, having departed Hamburg, Germany, on May 28, for a trip across the North Atlantic. She weighs 9611 ton and displaces 11,526 tons. So what do the moorings of a Heavy Lift Ship, flagged in Antigua - Barbuda, have to do with YOUR world here in North Baltimore, Ohio?
The Beluga Fanfare is one of nearly 70 ships in the fleet for Beluga Shipping in Germany. The cargo she carries is the containers containing the ultra efficient and rather large cranes that will be operated at the NWO Intermodal Yard, west of North Baltimore, in Henry Township. The containers will be unloaded soon. We would assume that they will be moved into the new yard with a combination of trucks and rail cars.
The five cranes were built by Hans Kuenz, located in Western Austria.
The incoming cranes will likely be similar to these container cranes.
The Port of Toledo is going to be a busy place for the next couple of whiles! |
